A Simple Vacation Plan

-The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.-
Saint Augustine

Some of us just can not pick up and go. We need a well thought out plan. That is of course one reason why we have never taken a vacation. We do not know exactly where to begin and since we have never done it before we do not know how it will all turn out.

If you are like me you are a prisoner of your routine. You need to know how things are going to go each and every day and not knowing drives you a little crazy.

The idea of a vacation seems like embracing chaos. We have seen all the movies where vacations turn into living nightmares where we are lost in a foreign country with no idea how to speak the language. Those are comedies and sure they can happen, but they are rare. If you plan your trip well it should go well. This is not a hundred years ago. You have a smart phone. You have GPS built in. You do not have to visit a place where you do not speak the language. You can go anywhere. If English is your native language you can go all over the world. They speak it in all fifty states. They speak it throughout the Carribean. Australia, England, half of Canada and countless other countries.

Excuses are what blocks up. Fear is usually what keeps us from making a move. To get away we must be willing to let go of those things. The reasons why to go on a vacation will always be overwhelmed by the many excuses that we have not to. All the things that we will miss or may go wrong if we leave everything behind. Some of us feel the need to be present in our little world twenty four hours a day seven days a week even when that world is driving us crazy.

Time to consider doing what is best for ourselves. You do not have to travel the world to get away, but you do have to pack a proper bag and walk out the door with the intention of not returning for more than twenty four hours. I am not suggesting that you go on the Amazing race, but would a drive to a place that has room service be the worst thing that you could do?

Think about it. Just think about it.
