A TOUR TO ONE OF THE MOST MAGNIFICENT ISLAND COUNTRY IN THE WORLD – THE MALDIVES

The Maldives, a country of magnificent beaches, is located in the majestic Indian Ocean to the South of Sri Lanka. The Maldives, which is known as the perfect place for honeymoon lovers, was certainly on the top of my mind after my marriage. My wife insisted on going to some other honeymoon destination but I knew the beauty of Maldives. I just wanted her to take to the Maldives and I knew that she herself would cherish the beauty of it.

Then came the day on which we went to the airport and booked our tickets to the Maldives. We had booked our hotels in advance in the capital city of Maldives, Male. It took us 20 hours to reach the Maldives. But we were not bored in the airplane. We came across many people who were visiting the same place we were waiting to go. We had a nice talk about the adventures that we could experience in the Maldives. And finally, the time came when we reached the International Airport.

When we reached Male, we knew that there was a lot of adventure to be experienced in this capital city of Maldives. We checked in at our hotel and took some rest. After that, we were fully charged up and ready to explore the Maldives starting from the capital city of Male.

At first, we went to the National Museum. It sheltered a wide variety of artifacts. It was an epitome of knowledge as here we could experience the history of Maldives. Starting from the ancient period of the Maldives to date, we knew a lot of facts. For example, Maldives was actually founded by an Indian prince who was sent to exile in 270 BC.

Then we visited the Artificial Beach where we relaxed a bit and then swam with the locals as well as the tourists who had come from other countries. This beach had a small crescent-shaped structure which is beautifully designed to provide a glamorous view to the people.

Our next visit was to the Sultan Park.  The most exciting structure here was the 12 feet glass treehouse which is capable of providing a spectacular view of the whole park. Then, it was the time to visit the Tsunami Monument, which was built as a memorial for the people who died in the 2004 tsunami that happened in the Indian Ocean. Here, we enjoyed a lovely sunset and I and my wife kissed each other while watching the stunning view.

Now, it was time for us to enjoy the delicious food of Maldives. The food of Maldives is basically inspired from that of Sri Lanka and the Indian state of Kerala. The cuisine of Maldives is composed of three basic ingredients – fish, coconut, and starch. But many kinds of delicious varieties of food can be made out of it. For instance, Mas Riha is a popular fish curry that is enjoyed all over the Maldives.

We had our dinner and it was time to do some shopping in the Maldives. The main shopping destination in the Maldives was Male and we went into the most popular shopping destination – Majeedhee Magu. It had all kinds of things to offer, starting from cosmetics and clothing to electronics and even grocery. We bought some amazing crafts in the Maldives. We were also enriched by the luxurious variety of clothing apparel here. My wife insisted on taking each and everything from the Maldives. I think it was the most expensive shopping that I had ever done in my life.

Well, after shopping we had some partying in our hotel. The nightclub in the hotel was simply fantastic. We enjoyed the island music of Maldives and danced to the tune. After a hard-partying session, we took a night rest. And the day after, it was the time to do some adventures in the island country of Maldives.

The morning was a fresh one. The sun shined and the wind was pure. We went to the Banana Reef, one of the oldest reefs in the Maldives. We tried out snorkeling here. We hired an instructor and learned adventurous snorkeling from him. It was a very thrilling moment. We did scuba-diving in the magical water of the banana reef.

Now, it was the time to experience some amazing water sports in the turquoise blue water of Maldives. First, we experienced banana boating, which is the most popular water sport in the Maldives. Honestly speaking, I was a little bit scared in trying out banana boating. But when I came out in the blue water and sat on the banana boat, I was really thrilled. My wife was always courageous from the beginning and she had no fear in trying out the most adventurous sports in the world. Well, after that, we did fishing and my wife caught a very big fish. In the afternoon, we had fishes for lunch. In the evening, we had some talk with the local people. The local people here were very friendly and we had a nice discussion with them.

Our trip to the Maldives was coming to an end. My wife said that she was very much pleased by the beauty of Maldives and amazed by the adventurous aspect of this island country. She said that no honeymoon could have been better than that in the Maldives. I was very glad that my wife was happy with my choice.

Finally, the time came when we were about to leave the Maldives. I did not feel like leaving. But we had to go as there were duties in our homeland. We went straight to the Male International Airport from our hotel. We reached the US in about 21 hours.

Even after a long time, I dream of having adventures in the Maldives. I could not thank more for the amazing memories that the Maldives has given me. I would urge every one of you who is reading this to visit the Maldives at least once in their lifetime. Thank you, the Maldives for making my honeymoon so special.
