Travel Safe and Insured
Before you take your first vacation you need to ask yourself a very important question.
When you travel does your insurance travel with you?
We all walk through life feeling as if a protective halo hovers over us, but the truth is that we are just as likely to get injured on vacation as we are at home or at work. Traveling within the country this is question that you should ask. While traveling overseas this is a question that you must ask. You better have some sort of insurance coverage when you leave the country.
There are countries that will not allow you to leave if you do not pay your medical bills and I am not just talking third world countries. It is something that you never want to think about, but you have to. So many vacationers are more likely to engage in risky activates because they are far from home and everyone else is jumping off of cliffs. You can get hurt water skiing. You can get hurt climbing a mountain. It looks dangerous because it is dangerous. Mountain bikers wear pads and helmets for a reason.
“I am already spending money on my vacation, I can’t afford insurance too.”
Really?
It is not that much. Largely since the odds are pretty low that you will get sick or injured during those two weeks abroad. Depending upon where you are going or how long you will be staying there is an insurance policy that you can afford. You will probably spend fifty to two hundred dollars unless you are going to be overseas for months. So your class assignment for today will be to go out and research travel insurance options as you plan your first vacation.
I know that vacation planning is beginning to look a bit more complex than you first thought, but it will all be worth it once you are on the road or in the air to that vacation destination you have been dreaming about. Take care of a few details and your vacation will begin.
